Is Growing People a Possible Career?
Research:
- When I started researching, I began at looking at the growth of artificial organs.
- As I continued to research, I started to look at Human Cloning.
- I first wanted to gain a knowledge of what cloning is, so I used the Cloning Fact Sheet.
- The Cloning Fact Sheet was a good foundation, but I need more info, so I started looking at other sites find more info on cloning.
- I also started to look for info about human cloning.
- After some time, I thought I should find what experts said, which led me to the Ask an Expert article to the right.
- I later found The Science of Cloning Humans article, which was a good summary to what I had found.
Terms:
-Cloning: the creation of biologically identical entity.
- Somatic Cell: any cell in the body that has a full set of DNA.
- Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer: Scientific name for cloning.
- Reproductive Cloning: Cloning used to create an entire entity.
- Therapeutic Cloning: Cloning used to repair or replace body parts. Also used for research.
Content:
- Cloning happens when someone strips the DNA from an egg cell, then implants a complete set of DNA from a Somatic Cell into the egg cell.
- The group of cells is then allowed to develop.
- If used for Reproductive Cloning, this groups of cells is then implanted into the female womb, where it finishes development.
- The baby born is known as a clone.
- In Therapeutic Cloning, the group of cells is never transferred back into a female womb.
- Ideally the cells would integrate into the patients tissue or organ and could then be used to start repairing.

A basic diagram of how human cloning works
Answer:
We are getting close-ish to cloning Humans, but there are many problems.
- Humans are very complex and extremely hard to clone.
- There are many ethical reasons against cloning humans.
- There is also no commerical reason to clone an entire human
